2023 Bakersfield Battle for Bragging Rights team time trial

The weather cooperated but the events in the area did not.

This happened to be the Cinco de Mayo weekend. That brought complexity to the route we had planned to use. It was a Trifecta of events that caused us to change our route at the last minute.

There would be many families in Hart Park for the Cinco de Mayo celebrations with associated kids, cars, etc. There was a Soccer de Mayo event at the soccer grounds that was expecting 32,000 attendees over 2 days. There was an annual Pyles Boys Camp BBQ event at Lake Ming.

We chose to run our event from Ethels out Round Mountain road to the Lake Ming overlook to help eliminate any congestion and danger.

The race started at Ethels Old Corral as usual, proceeded out to Gordon’s Ferry and turned onto Round Mountain rd. and continued to the turn-around point at the Ming Lake overlook. Everything went smoothly aided by volunteer flag people along the route at potential conflict points.

As usual. Jeff Moffitt ran the timing and scoring using his excellent RFID setup. Tim is very detail oriented which we want in the T&S person. At the end of the event, he provides a printout of times by teams and individuals as well.

Congratulations go to the Team of Jon Cunningham, Joe Rivas, Aaron Hebeler, and Ethan Puente that took the fastest time in the event.

They were trailed by a mere 20 seconds by the team of Roberto Martinez, Ramon Espinoza, Will Patton, Benjamin Patton, Fast Frankie Torres, and Jack Garcia.

Coming in third place was the team of Chris Rosetto, James Wright, Kalub Flory, Cameron Francis, Vance Elmore, and Richard Kutzner.
